Children’s Dance Teacher – Miss Hollie of babyballet Reading & Henley-on-Thames

Berkshire

I’m devoting this week’s blog post to a fellow entrepreneur in the Berkshire community, Hollie. She is a children’s dance teacher and owner of babyballet® Reading and Henley-on-Thames. In case you’re not familiar, babyballet is a preschool dance programme that offers four stages of ballet classes for young children aged 6 months to 6 years. Over to you Hollie…

Tell me a bit about you and your business?

My name is Hollie and I am the franchisee here at babyballet Reading and Henley-on-Thames!

Babyballet is a preschool dance concept that allows children to learn to dance in a fun, safe and non competitive environment. Our classes focus on learning through play and teach the basics of ballet through the use of props, imagery and storytelling.

The beloved babyballet characters, Twinkle, Teddy, Chuck the Cowboy and Flutterstar the Fairy, join our little stars each week to help with their learning in class and support early years development.

With an all inclusive and non-competitive approach to dance, babyballet is the perfect place for boys and girls between 6 months and 6 years.

How would you describe your dance classes?

Babyballet classes are lively, inclusive and full of smiles, laughter and fun. We are very relaxed and welcoming to you and your child. Our priority is ensuring that you and your Little Star have the most fun with us while your child learns the basics of dance and develops on their social, emotional and physical development in a safe environment.

Which areas in Berkshire do you cover?

Babyballet Reading and Henley-on-Thames covers central Reading, Henley and the surrounding suburbs. This includes Tilehurst and Calcot to Woodley, Hurst and Twyford, all the way up to Nettlebed and Turville Heath.

Where do your dance classes take place?

We are dancing the babyballet way every week during term time. You can find us at:

  • Shiplake on Thursday mornings
  • Earley on Friday mornings
  • Tilehurst on Saturday mornings

Watch out for even more new classes coming soon in 20tutu!

What age do you teach?

Our babyballet syllabus has been created by dance and preschool professionals specifically for babies, toddlers and young children to offer so much more than just a dance class. I love to teach our babyballet stars and our classes are designed for boys and girls from 6 months – 6 years.

What should children wear to your dance classes?

We have a gorgeous range of bespoke babyballet uniforms which can be purchased to wear for your ballet class. Many parents choose to do this because their little star looks just tutu-cute!

However, we are an all inclusive class and so uniform is not compulsory and especially for your trial with us. Please just ensure your child wears something comfortable that they can move freely in.

Do you have a special offer for clients of Anna Kennedy Photography?

Yes! I am delighted to announce that I will be working in partnership with Anna Kennedy Photography. Her work is incredible and I am very pleased to say that when you book a session with Anna Kennedy Photography you will also be offered a free 3 week trial for our ballet classes! (specific postcodes and t&c’s do apply).

Customer Review

“Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Hollie. There’s a number of reasons for this so I will try and list a few. Last week my daughter started a three week trial and it’s safe to say we LOVE it already. After having a lockdown baby and being isolated from the world, finding/starting a new group was very daunting. More so for us as my daughter is high risk in the covid world. But from when I enquired to the end of the class Miss Hollie went above and beyond to make us and everyone feel safe, comfortable and most importantly have a wonderful time.

If you are looking for ballet lessons for little ones, from 6 months to 6 years I highly recommend this group. I am blown away by the time Miss Hollie takes to get to know each of us and make the session as magical as possible for every child. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ”

Why did you become a children’s dance teacher?

I trained in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre before living in Australia where I discovered preschool dance teaching. I completely fell in love with preschool ballet and discovered the magical world of babyballet as a Saturday teacher upon my return to the UK in 2019.

I have always loved working with children and am truly passionate about being part of children’s development by encouraging them to learn through play and entertainment.

I like to say that I live my life to spread a little magic to others in whatever way I can! Having also been a professional children’s entertainer for 6 years, starting my franchise of babyballet was a dream come true.

How long have you been teaching dance classes?

I used to teach our magical babyballet syllabus for the bracknell franchise for 2 years including running those online lockdown classes. During that time I reevaluated a lot of things about my life and came out of the pandemic with a whole new career path.

The babyballet Reading and Henley-on-Thames franchise started in July last year and our first ever class began in September. It has been a rollercoaster journey since then but I am delighted to be spreading the babyballet magic even further in 20tutu!
